           Dear my lovely wif Elizabeth,
My three- year enlistment for the war was over, but despite how much i love you and want to see our family back again, i'm sorry that i will be reenlisting to join the Union army again. I know that this is a very hard choice, however, you know that i am very religious, and i think God have chosen me to fight fir da sake of our countryy. There was a lot of bad news in the beginning of the year. 137,000 soldiers reenlisted to the Union but a drastic amount of 100,000 soldiers went back home to unite with their famili. This caused us to spread our troops thinly across da country to defend the towns and cities.
Also, the public opinion is turning agaisnt da old man Lincoln. I feel bad to be him, and then now the Confederates want to negotiate for peace with da president if this keeps continuing. However, Grant also took command of the Union Army, which is very good new fur us. Because of dis, Grant can strengths the Union Army's potential.
I have also participated in da Sherman's March, which was succesful and brutal at da same time. We would burn down houses, take fresh food or steal it from the South's residents. Some slaves joined in too, wanting to be free. In the end, we captured one of the few major factoring center for the South, Atlanta, Georgia. Furthermore, we have also destroyed their communications and transportation lines, and also decimated their farmlands.
I am soo sorry that i can't go back to visit u and da kids dis year, and i miss y'all so much each and every day. Tell all of them to not worry about this war, get well, and help out their ma. Elizabeth, you are soo strong and independent for taking care of da kids and our property at da same time. I have soo much to say to u but i really have to serve for our country and our future. You are wonderful, brave, beautiful, and i miss u soo much. Remember to also take care of urself because you are soo hard working.
           I luv u,
       Frank Hill
