Just as Lincoln predicted in his Second Inaugural Address that the war was winding down to a Union Victory, and that he wants to have the Union restored with Confederate states as possiblu. Richmond, Virginia has fallen and burned to da Union and burned on April 2, 1865. And four days after it, the last battle ov da war occured at Saylor's Creek, and was only a brief one-day engagement was a Union Victory. In da wake of the battle, some 8,000 Confederates surrendered. Roughly one-third of Lee's army ,this is huge of the number of soldiers who surrendered. Finally, on April 9, 1865, General Lee finally surrendered to da Union at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia. The terms of da surrendered were pretty generous: 25,000 rations, soldiers can keep their own things, however, all Confederate issued items and battle flags had to be turned over and keep a promise of not to fight .
